Updates and School Policy Reform
So, it’s been a while since an update…
I’m in a loll. Or is it spelled ‘lull’? Regardless, I have hit a low academically (again), and while things seem to be looking up from here (sort of; i’m working things out with my teachers), I haven’t even registered for classes. Drop/Add period, anyone?
Beyond my academics, I feel the need for a campaign in my life. I’m not quite sure what it is I want to do, but I need to do something. Something to work on while I’m not doing schoolwork. After a few minutes of research, (see http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2010/11/15/Lesbian_Students_Stopped_from_Graduating/) I’m thinking of working on starting a group to reform non-discrimination policies and anti-bullying policies in [public] schools. … If anyone is interested in becoming involved, let me know! :)
I’m quite appalled at the fact that they cite a non-inclusive non-discrimination policy as a defense…almost as much as I am appalled that they have yet to change their policy to include “gender and sexual orientation and sexual preference” to their list of things that they do not discriminate against. I guess it makes sense that if they ENJOY discriminating on something, they wouldn’t try to form a policy against discriminating on it. They’re just douschebags (See George Takei’s It Gets Better video…). Total douschebags.
If you want to help me improve school policy, please contact me at tom@iamteeg.com … thanks!
Uhh…class time. Peace out!
